It is perhaps a couple of weeks late for a “favorite from 2017” post, but here we are nonetheless. I’d like to present some of my favorite film images from the past year. Most of my work is done on digital cameras, of course, but film presents a wonderful opportunity to stop and smell the photographic roses. The cameras are almost always slower (manual focus, manual controls), as is the process of developing and scanning. This doesn’t usually translate well to client work, but it’s perfect for learning, and for personal projects that can be done at a slower pace.
These are my favorites from 2017. We’ll start in black and white:
Most of the photos above were taken on three film stocks: Kodak TMAX 100, Fujifilm Acros 100, or Ilford Delta 100 in a mix of 35mm and 6×9 medium format. And now, on to the color:
These were all shot on a variety of films, include Fujifilm Provia 100, Kodak Ektar 100, and Portra 400, mostly.
Now on to 2018, which I hope to use for a more cohesive personal project. Thanks for reading!
